Because I Know Someone’s Going To Ask

This is what a thumbnail that I drew looks like.

It’s a lot harder than it looks, I promise.

The comics are created using a .5mm mechanical pencil to draw a thumbnail, which is then roughed in on graph paper. I use an LED lightbox to transfer the lineart to Strathmore Aquarius Watercolor paper and ink it with Sakura Pigma Micron pens. I use watercolors for the main coloring and add details with colored pencils. My brands are Maimeri Blu and Sennelier watercolors and I use Prismacolor Colored Pencils and Caran d’Ache Supracolor Watercolor pencils. I use whatever kind of brushes I can get cheap, though I am quite fond of Cheap Joe’s Golden Fleece for my detail brushes. Sometimes I do mini-comics on Strathmore Artist’s Trading Cards with Copic Sketch Markers, which are COOL.

As for the style, well, it is what it is. I look at stuff and then when I put it to paper, that’s how it comes out. I don’t think about it that much. The character design has been referred to as ‘amorphous cat blob’ and I’m fine with that for now.

Why do they have wings, you ask? Because they do.
